| From
the vantage point of his eighties, the Japanese printmaker Hokusai once
described himself as "an old man mad about drawing." A century and a half
later, the 83-year-old Jacob Landau finds this image of age, passion, and
creativity, a compelling self-description. As he looks ahead to his eighties,
savoring the prerogative of age, Landau looks back across seven decades
of being "mad about drawing."
